Volunteer Spotlight: Josetta Caudill

January not only marks the beginning of new opportunities but also serves as a time when individuals and organizations alike are tasked with reflecting on their values and setting ambitious goals for the months ahead. Here at the TRIMEDX Foundation, this month is an opportunity to renew our commitment to raising the standard of global health for the communities we serve through engagement, education, and consultation. However, our work would be impossible without the dedicated and passionate volunteers we are so privileged to work alongside for the past 20 years. In 2024, the TRIMEDX Foundation encourages you to consider the impact volunteering has not only in achieving our collective mission of raising the standard of global health but also in improving one’s own quality of life.

TRIMEDX Associate Josetta Caudill understands first-hand the transformative power of volunteering.Josetta Caudill Working for TRIMEDX since July 2014, Josetta connected with the TRIMEDX Foundation in 2017 and was instrumental in spearheading the Craft It Forward group. The Craft It Forward group creates handmade toys and blankets for children receiving treatment and care at the medical mission sites. Collectively the group has crafted over 2,000 toys which our international volunteers distribute on every trip.

Josetta has gone above and beyond the call to service and shared her talents to develop a database for our partners SOS International in Louisville, Kentucky. SOS International continues to use this database to track international shipments of medical equipment, including a container currently in route to the Foundation’s partner, the Devos Medical Centre in Bo-Waterside District, Liberia. Josetta will continue her service to others through the Foundation in 2024 as she prepares to bring her data entry and project management talents to support CURE International in Zambia later this year. Thank you, Josetta, for sharing your time, talent, and treasure with the TRIMEDX Foundation and the communities we serve worldwide.

Q: Why did you decide to volunteer with TRIMEDX Foundation?

A: I met Helen Dennison, the TRIMEDX Foundation’s Volunteer Coordinator, and mentioned that I had been crafting toys for charity. Helen asked if I would consider making toys to share as gifts to the Foundation’s medical mission sites, many of which specialize in pediatric care. My fellow Craft It Forward volunteers and I were thrilled to donate our precious toys to children awaiting treatment at the hospital.

Q: What are some highlights of volunteering?

A: Seeing the smiles. Volunteering for the Foundation became real when we saw the first photos of the children holding their new toys. Then we were really hooked on volunteering because we were so excited about the children’s smiling faces.

Q: What is something about you that not many people know?

A: There’s so many, it’s hard to pick just one fun fact! People may not know that I also DJ in my spare time. I love to play for local weddings, birthdays, and any party!

Q: Why would you recommend volunteering to others?

A: I believe in volunteering because there have been times in my life when I have needed help. I understand the profound impact a helping hand can have, which has encouraged me to do the same for others.
