The TRIMEDX Foundation supports international and domestic healthcare partners to raise the standard of care. Local volunteer team trips are often shorter, but more frequent, to support our state-side partners’ medical equipment, facilities, and organizational needs.
Kyle Havens (TRIMEDX), Ashley Casilli (TRIMEDX), Charlie Hanover (Retired – TRIMEDX), Brandon Plank (GE Healthcare), Jose Gonzalez (TRIMEDX), and Jonathan MarcAurele (TRIMEDX) volunteered more than 90 hours of service to our Midwestern healthcare partners.
Hope Healthcare Services – Avon, Indiana
Kyle completed the foundation’s first visit of the year to local partner Hope Healthcare Services in Avon, Indiana. The non-profit clinic provides affordable, quality health solutions to neighbors without health insurance in Hendricks County, specializing in medical, dental, and mental health services. The clinic has provided care for more than 16,000 patients since it opened its doors in 2005.
Kyle completed 5 preventative maintenance inspections for the clinic. During his visit, Kyle identified two nonfunctional devices and provided guidance on feasibility and cost of repairs. Kyle continues to follow-up with the clinic to track parts and ensure the devices can be recalibrated and returned to service.
First-time volunteer Ashley joined Charlie and Brandon in Louisville, Kentucky, to support medical surplus recovery organization (MSRO), SOS. SOS improves global health and the environment through the recovery and redistribution of surplus medical supplies from regional healthcare systems. Since 2014, SOS has diverted more than 5 million pounds of healthcare supplies from landfills and redistributed equipment to more than 108 countries; elevating healthcare access for more than 14 million people worldwide. Several of the TRIMEDX Foundation’s international partners have received medical equipment through SOS’s services.
Over the course of two days, the volunteer team serviced 95 medical devices. Ashley’s expertise as a procurement specialist enhanced the team’s efficiency and productivity. Together the team volunteered 60 hours of service and identified opportunities for future volunteer trips to the warehouse.
Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach – Springfield, Illinois
Jose teamed up with Jonathan on the foundation’s first visit of the year to Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach (HSMO), another MSRO, located in Springfield, Illinois. HSMO’s mission outreach team connects with more than 80 hospitals and 18 clinics throughout the Midwest to gather life-saving equipment. HSMO has saved 10 million pounds of usable medical supplies from landfills since 2002. Their work relies on volunteers, like the TRIMEDX Foundation’s teams, to assess and repair their inventory to World Health Organization international medical donation standards, and ship to more than 95 countries.
Together the TRIMEDX Foundation volunteer duo worked to service anesthesia machines, ventilators, operating room equipment, and an endoscopy tower. The TRIMEDX Foundation will send two more volunteer teams to HSMO in 2025.
